The Bride: Krista Davis
By: Derek Funk

When Krista and I first started dating, I was asked to be the defensive coach of a powder puff game Krista was playing in. After the other team scored to put us three touchdowns behind in the second half, Krista marched over to me and let me know (very nicely, of course), that I was losing the game for them and that I needed to do something different. I knew at that point that I was going to have my hands full with sweet, sweet Krista. Needless to say, we went on to lose the game and I have not been invited back to be defensive coach.
.
All joking aside, I am so lucky to have Krista. It blows my mind when I think about it. She was a wonderful girlfriend and, now, she is the best fiance. She is loving, sweet, and thoughtful. She is a very good cook. She has the best personality. She is the prettiest. She is great at making people laugh and everyone likes to be around her. Most importantly, she loves the Lord and loves to serve Him. I love her with all my heart and I couldn't be happier.

Krista is the daughter of Kent and LaDonna Davis. She grew up in Layton, Utah and graduated from Layton High School in 2000. After high school she went to college at Dixie and then Weber State, graduating in radiologic sciences. She moved to California in 2006, and works at UCLA doing cardiac ultrasounds.

Most of all, I think Krista enjoys me, but I'm not the only thing she enjoys. She enjoys all sports, but is especially good at soccer and triathlons. She is a really fast runner, but she still isn't quite as fast as me (or as strong). She loves to be outdoors and go camping or biking. She is also an exceptional bowler, averaging like 150. We enjoy watching Heroes together, as well as American Gladiators, The Office, and American Idol. She enjoys watching Gossip Girl and Gilmore Girls on her own. She does not enjoy tickling or losing.
The Groom: Derek Funk

May Flowers

The first time Derek and I went out was just after my Grandma Betty had passed away. Derek showed up with flowers and said "these are for your grandma". I was sad to tell him that he had just missed her. Derek has been putting up with crap like that from me ever since. He is a very patient man. We had a great first date, and have had many great dates since. Many of our dates have included the most beautiful flowers.

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times...

Derek is in his third year of UCLA dental school, and he is my dentist. I had neglected going to a dentist (once away from my parents coercion), and I ended up needing to have a lot of work done. So Derek and I have spent many "Tuesday Toothdays" together. Every Tuesday night Derek and I have "enjoyed" our evenings at night clinic. We began Tuesday Toothdays not long after we started dating, and have continued through most of our courtship. I am a sucker for a man with a treatment plan. He does good work, and my teeth are in much better shape now thanks to him.

" You Complete Me"
disclosure: this is where the love talk comes into play

Derek is da bomb. I love so many things about him. I love his baby blue eyes. I love the way he looks angry when he is thinking. I love that he takes interest in my interests, and allows me to be a part of his. I love that he won't let me NOT talk about something bothering me, even when I don't want to. I love that he treats me like I am the prize. I love that he is athletic and active. I love that he will argue with me sometimes, even though I know he hates to. I love his car dancing. I love that he has no inside voice. I love how much fun he is, and how he makes me laugh. I love the way things "blow his mind". I love when he speaks German to me. I love that he is such a giving person. I love that he loves me out loud. I love love love the way he honors his priesthood, and lives his religion.

When people find out I am from Utah, after asking if I am Mormon, they ask me why I came to LA. I usually say something like: because I wanted to try something different for a while, or because I wanted to be by the beach etc. Derek, lately, will jokingly tell me that I moved here to meet him. I can't tell you that he was involved in my decision to move, but I will tell you that I have never been happier because I did move here, and I did meet him. I can't wait to be the bride of this groom.

Derek is the son of Christopher and Pam Funk.
He is from Sandy, Utah.
He graduated high school from Alta, and college in economics from BYU.
He served a full-time mission in Germany.
